User-Centered Design
House for the Elderly
Manchester School Of Architecture - Year 1 (MArch)
Being part of the landscape and urbanism atelier in the Manchester School of Architecture, I was part of a group project in the regional city of Stockport, which allowed me to design a new masterplan acknowledging the issues with the area, and improving them through masterplanning techniques responding to the existing context. Following this, I designed a townhouse which aimed to resolve the existing problems affecting the elderly demographic of Stockport. I intended to tackle them through a co-living scheme which would sit cohesively with its adjacent context. Shared, semi-private and private spaces would combine to create a comfortable living environment that would accommodate the accessibility necessities of the client, whilst including activity areas.
